The Complete Peacock Streaming Guide

Everything you need to know about Peacock — from creating your NBCUniversal account and signing in on any device, to understanding error codes, Xfinity access, and choosing between Premium and Premium Plus.

Getting Started with Peacock

New to Peacock or setting up on a new device? Here's everything you need to know about creating an account, signing in, and managing profiles — including the Xfinity and NBCUniversal login details that catch people off guard.

How to Create a Peacock Account

  1. Go to peacocktv.com and click Get Peacock.
  2. Enter your email address and create a password. Peacock uses an NBCUniversal account — the same login works for NBC.com and other NBCUniversal services.
  3. Select your plan (Peacock Premium or Peacock Premium Plus) and complete the sign-up steps.
  4. Xfinity / Comcast subscribers: your Peacock access may already be included — see the Xfinity section below instead of creating a new account.

Signing In on Any Device

iPhone or Android

Download the Peacock app from the App Store or Google Play, open it, and tap Sign In. Enter your NBCUniversal/Peacock email and password. If you're an Xfinity subscriber, tap Sign In with Xfinity and use your Xfinity credentials instead.

PC or Mac browser

Go to peacocktv.com and click Sign In in the top-right corner. If the button doesn't respond, disable browser extensions (especially ad blockers and VPN extensions) and make sure cookies are enabled.

Smart TV or streaming device

Open the Peacock app and select Sign In. Look for the activation code option — a code and the URL peacocktv.com/tv appear on screen. On your phone or computer, go to peacocktv.com/tv, sign in to your Peacock account, and enter the code. Your TV signs in automatically within seconds.

Forgot Your Password?

  1. Go to peacocktv.com, click Sign In, then Forgot password?
  2. Enter the email address on your Peacock account and submit.
  3. Check your inbox and spam folder for a reset link from Peacock or NBCUniversal.
  4. Use the link to set a new password and sign back in.

Managing Profiles

Peacock supports multiple profiles per account, each with its own watch history and content preferences. To add a profile, tap your profile icon → Add Profile, enter a name, and toggle Kids on to restrict to age-appropriate content. Note that Peacock does not currently support profile PINs — use Kids mode to restrict content on a profile.

Common Peacock Issues, Explained

Peacock's most common problems fall into a few clear categories — HDCP errors, stream limits, audio sync, and billing. Here's what each one means and how to address it.

Error Code 6007 — HDCP / network issue

Error 6007 usually indicates a problem with the device's ability to play protected content (an HDCP handshake failure) or a network connectivity problem. The fix depends on which it is.

  1. Unplug the HDMI cable from both your TV and device, then plug it back in firmly.
  2. Try a different HDMI port on your TV.
  3. If using a monitor or older TV, confirm it supports HDCP 2.2.
  4. Restart your streaming device.
  5. If the problem persists, restart your modem and router — a flaky connection can also trigger 6007.

Too Many Streams — Stream limit reached

Peacock Premium allows up to 3 concurrent streams per account. When that limit is reached, a new stream can't start until one stops.

  1. Check if family members are currently watching on other devices.
  2. Log out of devices you no longer use: go to Account → Devices → Sign Out All.
  3. Change your password if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

Buffering & Video Quality — Slow or freezing streams

Persistent buffering almost always points to a network speed or congestion problem rather than Peacock itself.

  1. Run a speed test at fast.com. Peacock needs at least 3 Mbps for SD and 8 Mbps for HD.
  2. Restart your modem and router by unplugging them for 30 seconds.
  3. Move your device closer to the router, or connect via Ethernet for a stable connection.
  4. Pause other devices that are streaming or downloading on the same network.

Audio Out of Sync — Dialogue doesn't match mouth movements

Audio sync issues on Peacock are typically caused by a processing delay in your TV, soundbar, or AV receiver rather than the stream itself.

  1. Pause the video for 10 seconds, then press play to let the buffer catch up.
  2. Rewind the video by 15 seconds — this often immediately re-syncs the stream.
  3. Check your TV or soundbar audio settings for an "A/V Sync" or "Audio Delay" option and set it to 0 or Auto.
  4. Change the audio output format on your streaming device from Surround to Stereo as a test.

Error 4007 — General playback failure

Error 4007 is a general streaming error that Peacock returns when playback fails for a reason the app can't classify more specifically. It can be triggered by a network drop, an app cache issue, or a temporary server problem.

  1. Force close the Peacock app completely and reopen it.
  2. Unplug your streaming device from power for 60 seconds, then restart.
  3. Clear the Peacock app cache in your device's app settings.
  4. Run a speed test at fast.com — Peacock needs at least 3 Mbps for SD and 8 Mbps for HD.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall the Peacock app if the error recurs on the same content.

Error TVAPP-00100 — App needs reinstalling

TVAPP-00100 is an app-level error on smart TVs and streaming devices that indicates the Peacock app installation is corrupted or outdated and needs a clean reinstall to function correctly.

  1. Uninstall the Peacock app from your device completely.
  2. Restart the TV or streaming device (unplug from power for 30 seconds).
  3. Check for a firmware or software update for your TV or device before reinstalling.
  4. Reinstall Peacock from the device's app store and sign back in.
  5. If the error returns, contact your TV manufacturer to check for platform-level compatibility issues with the current Peacock version.

Error streaming_304 — Content delivery failure

streaming_304 is a CDN (content delivery network) error that appears when Peacock's servers return an unexpected response while trying to serve the video stream. It can affect a single title or multiple titles depending on whether it's a device-side or server-side issue.

  1. Force close the Peacock app completely and reopen it.
  2. Clear the Peacock app cache in your device's app settings.
  3. Check your internet connection — run a speed test at fast.com and confirm you have at least 8 Mbps for HD.
  4. Try playing a different title to determine if the error is content-specific (a temporary availability issue) or affects all content.
  5. Check downdetector.com/status/peacock to see if there is a wider Peacock service issue before troubleshooting further.

Billing & Subscription Issues — Unexpected ads or missing content

If you're seeing ads when you shouldn't be, or can't access content you expect to have, the issue is almost always an account or billing mismatch.

  1. Verify you're signed in with the email address associated with your Premium plan.
  2. Check if your payment method has expired in the Account section at peacocktv.com.
  3. If you subscribed through a third party (Roku, Apple, Xfinity), verify your subscription status in their respective portals.

App Crashes — Peacock closes or freezes on launch

If the Peacock app closes immediately or won't load, stale cache or an outdated app version is usually the cause.

  1. Force close the app completely and reopen it.
  2. Clear app cache and data in your device's settings.
  3. Check for a Peacock app update in your device's app store and install it.
  4. Uninstall and reinstall Peacock for a clean copy.
